    The secret to getting it out (aside from swearing at it like it owes you money) is to slightly pressurize the system with some refrigerant then giving it a firm pull.

    I've owned my 2006 jetta tdi (brm engine code) for nearly 10 years, and the a/c in it has always been weak, intermittent, and on really hot days, non-existent.

    In my case, i had to drop the cooling fans to provide enough clearance to pull the valve out of the compressor.

    Hardest part was getting the old valve out, but with a flat head screwdriver prying at the right angle, it eventually pops out.
