The drain is a pop up and not connected in anyway to the faucet base

I had to mess with and adjust it to make sure it would not leak

It leaked lightly until i maneuvered it in perfect position and screwed it as tight as it would go without snapping the plastic washer

I ordered the installation through amazon as well the first time ive tried this service

The only other comment i would make is that the included connecting hoses to the home water shut off valves can only be screwed on the faucets easily for about 1 turn because the coneshaped rubber washers in the hose connectors are too large
