It’s designed to let you know the state of the battery based on its measured voltage but without all the hassle of having to lift the bonnet and worry about what lead clips to what terminal – and that’s even if you can find the battery mine is hidden under two plastic covers and is partly under the bulkhead so not at all easy to get to

The digital display shows the voltage of the battery down to one decimal place and the leds under the display light up depending on what voltage range the reading falls into
