On the back is a plastic panel lightly held in place by two little screws that you will need to remove to reveal the included 9volt battery that is not yet plugged in

I accidentally tapped the red activator button as i was installing it and it did startle me a bit but that was the very first time id ever heard this thing

I placed the siren on the bird feeder and whenever squirrels attacked the feeder i was able to scare them off from inside my house
