Pros
Croatia and montenegro is one of rick steves' best-selling books. The book is very thorough and organized. It gives a great overview of yugoslavia.
Rick steves imparts his practical advice on visiting croatia and slovenia.
Cons
Boring stats and data rather than great insider (like a local) scoop. Could have used more detailed info on overnight ferries, and ferries in general. Postojna needs a whole lot more detail as it omits the stellar hotel at the caves.

Most folks zero in on croatia but don’t overlook what slovenia has to offer
