Pros & Cons
Pros
Puppies are agile and have strong hind legs. Height is perfect for small nonjumpers like our chihuahuas, but it doesn’t deter our yorkie from jumping and climbing over.
The wooden richell one is perfect because it is standalone, sturdy, heavy (so the baby can’t push it around) and not easy to topple over. Easy to use. Easily moved from area to area without having to change or reinstall hardware.
Richell is a well reputable company that makes only pet products and baby products. I have used from potty, water bottles, bowls, to now gates. Assembled by myself.
The product is not flimsy. The design and materials are very attractive and fit in nicely with my decor. It’s wood and steel and feels firmly grounded if put together properly.
It is a bit heavy and very sturdy. The material is not lightweight, but not too heavy. It is slightly heavy but manageable.
Cons
I wish they would use experienced members that care about quality instead of repackaging and sending out. Plus the color is nothing like what is pictured. Stay clear despite the head-scratchingly great reviews and the amazon choice label.
This is just so bulky and difficult to use. Two of my four dogs could just lift their paws over this and jump it. Me being 5' 3 knocked it over every time i tried to get over it.
Highlights
Quality
I love the high quality of the wood and wire puppy gate
My dogs aren’t “jumpers” so i don’t have an issue with the dogs jumping over the gates
We didn’t want anything on the walls with hardware or with the tension
Unfortunately with the gap created by the legs the cats jumped over the gate and crashed through the screen doors
Packaging/appearance
I think it will work well to keep the dog out of the litterbox
We got it as a 2nd layer to keep the dog from eating the cats litter
I was looking for a shorter gate so that we wouldn’t have to constantly move it out of the way to go from room to room
Competitiveness
We have a puggle dog that is almost 17 years old so we don’t have to worry about her jumping over it
