In a pinch the tambourine can be played by hand unmounted though it certainly isnt as comfortable as something with an actual handle

The playing edge protector is only on one side so that means there is a definite top and bottom which can create issues of it being mounted upside down when rushed or in dim situations

The biggest downside is the same thing ive found with a lot of rhythm techs rod clamping hardware you can tighten the wing nut as much as possible yet the item will still slip periodically

Even on a rough spindle surface the tamborine works itself loose with normal finger pressure tightening
