Pros
Great suction and output of this pump. Quick shipping and arrived in perfect condition. If you have a good well this thing kicks *!
Has a low raspy sound similar to a slightly worn idler pulley in a car. Used rubber feet to eliminate vibrations in the slab, the wood board also absorbs vibration.
This puppy get quite hot. Fully winterized now for winter. Will fire up in the spring. Of course there will be expansion caused by freeze.
Cons
The tech support at fleetfarm wants me to rebuild the pump one part at a time instead of replacing the pump and then rebuilding the return. Lasted 6 months. For what is costs this pump is almost worth it.
Two burnt wires and lugs lead from the switch to the motor installed at the factory. At 115 volt current draw is 17 amps. Pump must be manually spun while connected to power.
Casing cracked after only 3 months of light use. The pics show the water spewing from the crack all the way across the casting. How many people have 2 or 3 wells at their disposal?

Ordered this 1hp red lion pump as a spare when it was on sale and so glad i did
Although i bought it when it went on sale even at normal price it wouldve been much less expensive than buying a pump locally
I paid 400 at menards for a pressurized tank and a little giant 34 shallow well pump

Pump was bolted to a 1434 laminated board sized to fit the doublewalled box
Box that i received said 114 outlet actually pump was 112 outlet and had to get reduction which was 20 miles away
Competitiveness
It performs as well as my old brand name pump did
In comparison my 20 yearold outgoing flotec fp433208 1hp pump sounded more like a v6 engine at full throttle
The pump is not as efficient as the outgoing flotec
