Pros & Cons
Pros
Research is the key because there is so much misinformation out there. I like how real milk paint educates if needed and seems to hold the elixer of the gods in high regard as they should.
This is a drying oil oxygen catalyzes it. Afterwards coated with 50/50 tung oil and citrus solvent.
It takes 3 days to dry and the surface feels smoother than before. Leaves a nice matte finish. Wipe off any excess with a dry rag and do multiple coats as needed.
Milk paint half & half is easy to use and smells way better than i thought it would. Smells like brownies, goes on easy, and looks great. During application it gives off a strong odor but after it dries, it goes away.
It was a weathered, beat up bench but after sanding and applying 3 coats of this oil, it looks beautiful.
Cons
Tung oil slowly oxidizes. As it oxidizes it becomes less effective and loses any sheen it might have temporarily had. It is greasy and collects dust as it never really fully cures. It seems the container has a leak, oil, everywhere.
