I can verify that they work by the attached image displaying a tool called net stumbler which can be used to view the performance of antennas and signal attenuation

I really can not attest to the distance issue i bought this item to make sure i have a more robust signal between the controller and quad for vlos flight

All it really is is a piece of plastic with aluminum foil

Not an extender just helps strengthen the signal it took a min for the first time to put on nicley then it was loosened up
