Pros & Cons
Pros
Made seven holes in 14g mild steel and still going strong. Made me think the longevity of this saw isn't great, but for the price you really can't expect a great tool.
Minute estimate includes pre-drilling and moving from hole to hole. Used this bit to drill 2-3/8 holes in schedule 40 iron pipe. Drilled over 100 holes and still looks like new.
Took me 3 cuts with wd-40 and a dollar store magnet to clean up the metal shavings. Popped right through several cuts. Only down side is it'sings' very loudly as it's cutting.
Pre-drilling the pilot hole and keeping the saw soaked in oil for lubrication and coolant. Then a matching hole for the pilot.
Cons
Tried to set the bit and found a meatal burr in the hole the bit sets in. Doesn't cut stainless steel. Broke a tooth halfway through the first hole drilled.
Highlights
Quality
Use quality cutting oil for all drilling
Happy to see equivalent performance from this product in 304ss
The preconception with tools is typically the cheaper they are the lower the quality
Only took a few minutes with the right tool
Price
The price was right and it cut through my cast iron sink like butter
Even so i gave it shot and figured the price was low enough to take the risk
I felt like these saws were midrange as far as price was concerned but i worried a bit after reading other reviews
Competitiveness
So it held up for what it costs it does a great job
Use your own bit to predrill pilot hole
