Once, when discussing world war i, the author mentions the nazis, who didn't come along until the 1930's.

The book is organized by region, with the section on the south particularly effective, but when it comes to bloody legends, it’s hard to outdo new jersey.

It is a welcome change to read about gay ghosts but the book itself follows the standard writing style of this genre- full of primarily anonymous assertions and testimony.
