Pros
Alison weir is one of my favourite authors of ‘popular’ history. Whether it’s nonfiction or fiction, alison weir, whether fiction or non-fiction, is guaranteed to be good in my opinion. I really admire what alison weir managed to do with this book.
It's a dense book, rich with facts, so at times it can be a bit slow going. The book is very detailed but remains engaging. It is certainly a rewarding study.
The book is well-written and well-researched. The lives of the queens are dramatic and full of intrigue. The author writes extensively on each subject she picks.
She brings these remarkable women to life in a way that no other author can. As its title says, the book focuses on women that were standing (and most of the time influencing) behind the powerful men. These women choose to make their roles in history ... Read More

I have been fascinated with the royal history of england since i picked up a book on elizabeth one
5 starsthis book begins with the story of duchess mathilda the wife of duke william of normandy
The king’s subjects were very displeased at the marriage
I am not familiar with the history of the queens and as always i find them fascinating

Now that being said not all royalty is as engaging as ann boleyn or the stuarts of the 1600s

This history book covers information that you dont see addressed often or in much detail medieval history specifically englands queens during that period

Occasionally i got a little confused because there would be jumps in the timely if the specific issue which frequently covered years was being addressed before the main narrative continued
