Once it was in the futon cover never smelled anything so i am not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about

All in all its a good quality mattress but definitely not soft

This is not the motherinlaw mattress people joke about that makes em want to cut the visit short

It is not as cushy soft as i would have hoped but overall it is a good futon mattress with one minor flaw when the mattress is placed with the soft side up in the sitting position there is a lump all the way across where it folds right in the middle as noted by magaly in one of the answered questions in 2015

When the mattress is flipped to the firm side this lump does not exist
