    The other is a very low quality sharpener and i did not just how poorly made it was until receiving this one and testing it out

    As it says in the instructions the angle on the sharpener isnt suitable for fine german and japanese knives so i didnt even atempt

    I dont have any ceramic knives so i taped that slot off so i wouldnt confuse them

    It only took a couple passes through the sharpener for any of the knifes if i remember right it said you could try up to 5 passes

    If you have a really expensive set i would suggest trying it out on a less valuable knife first just to get the hang of it

    It may look a little unstable but it when griped it is not going to move
