Chapter 9 covers many of pythons builtin functions in alphabetical order it would make a good reference but should probably also be skipped the first time through although i didnt see any mention of that possibility in the text

Chapter 10 does a similar thing for some standard modules most of which i expect a kid who had never done any other programming would not see the point of and would not learn anything from

Were more than halfway through and so far it has just been a perfect book for a 10 year old with a strong drive to program but very little realworld experience with computers
