This is the only filter i've found that removes the clay sediment. The filter changes are a snap and the indicator gives me a good idea of when it needs a new filter.
This is my second pur pitcher, and i love both of them. The lid closes completely to keep out particles. This pitcher also has a little cover for the spout. My only issue is the size is too small for my medium sized family.

Cons
The new one has a spout that makes controlling small amounts of water impossible. Get a lot of spillage while pouring. One drop per second or less is the rate it drips.
The pur ultimate filtered water is cumbersome and time consuming to fill. If there is any unfiltered water in the top -- and you pour it -- the unfiltered water comes out. It takes nearly 30 minutes to filter the reservoir.

I have absolutely no problem with the lid as others have reported
I just dont know yet but so far i am pleased that the water tastes better and is better tolerated by my body

You add water to the top the water goes through the bottom of the pitcher
