Pros & Cons
Pros
This rotary tool still works like a champ after more than four years of moderate to heavy woodworking use. It performs well for detailed carving, engraving, sanding and buffing.
Transformer gets a little hot if you just leave it plugged in. It has a propriety plug so trying to match it to anything other than a proxxon power supply.
For the basement tech hobbyist/hacker, the 50 ef is a great buy cost vs quality over other higher priced dedicated drill motors i could have bought for the same cnc duty. It does better than my dremel, and it was cheaper.
Cons
Below 10k rpm it has a serious vibration problem. It just wobbles all around in my hand. Not good qc.
Highlights
Quality
That drives up the price but considering the quality and versatility of the tool it still is well worth the price
I’m very satisfied with it and will be buying another along with proxxon’s multiple tool power supply

You will need the transformer which is affordable with the drill
Competitiveness
I used a proxxon hot wire cutting tool to form styrofoam props for plays so i have the 12v power supply
Now i am looking forward to using this new dc proxxon version
Im not a proxxon affiliate employee or advertiser
And no proxxon hasnt neither approved of how i use their great versatile product or this review
