Pros
The martian" is incredibly informative and exciting. It's interesting from the start, and fast paced. I still remember a (slightly) younger me stumbling upon 'the martian' in my local "books-a-million" store.
Andy weir is my favorite author in the science fiction genre. Weir builds a scientifically believable accidental-lonely-hero space odyssey. Although it is sci-fi it feels very real and plausible while also being very imaginative.

The science is cool, i guess, for someone who loves a narrative to be bogged down with pages and pages of science and math. Annoying attempts to sound scientific by bombarding the reader with trivial calculations and shallow ideas.
Not remotely believable and actually distracts from the genuinely interesting premise.
The main character is uni-dimensional and his breezy acceptance of his one way trip to save the earth becomes really boring. He acts like agoofy buffoon. The main female character in the book comes off as some guy's fantasy of how strong women operate... Read More
