They have less flex than coated rods and as such when used with a bore guide they do not flex and touch the rifling

Its a pain the remove the barrel and a standard short rod wont reach to the end of the barrel due to clearences with other issues with this model

The smooth ss rod should not mare the bore unless used in a inappropriate manner

I used to use the cheap ones you screw together but those failed and came apart or werent straight
