However i did want to originally use this splitter for my headset i only intended to listen to sound and not to use the microphone part of the headset but when i plugged in my headset the sound was so heavily distorted that it was totally unusable

Some people will just say that you can’t use a headset with 3pole stuff but they are wrong because i have used a 3pole 5 metre extension cable with my 4pole headset and it worked absolutely fine for sound only

So it should get 5 stars but there should be a cautionary warning in the product description saying that this splitter does not work with headsets or that it might not work with all headsets

Works fine but if you have an ipad cover you have to remove to use this
