May be obvious to some before buying this, but this is installed with a screw smack dab in the middle, so if there is pre-existing damage, it will not work.

So if you search for a door knob and wall shield - you will see a round plate, in various sized, that goes on with double sided tape that will totally fix your problem.

Unless you are not wanting to use the anchor the directions talk about using a 1/8 instead to start as a pilot hole.
