This colander is made of thick (recycled) plastic - firm like melamine, not at all flimsy. It's not thin and flimsy like most plastic colanders. Very sturdy and hefty feeling.

It's not unsightly to leave this out on the counter or to use outdoors in the summer. It is dishwasher safe, and even after a lot of use, there is no visible wear or tear.

The racy red color is a cheerful change from the usual boring tones of kitchen implements. It matches my kitchen, but it is not an obnoxious color.

This collander is very sturdy and attractive and i love the fact that it is made from recycled materials! It's hard to find a plastic colander that does this.
