The handle is stainless steel, i believe, while the body appears to be plastic.

This is by far the best wine opener of this design that i have ever bought - others were difficult ( hard ) to operate and on one of them, the handle broke while extracting the cork .

She's tiny and gas trouble with the standard openers.
