What it does is that it is the trigger for your camera app at least it works by default for iphones it might need some slight configurations for android or other types of phones or systems

And finally its for those who like to take selfies but might have small arms so they need to stretch as far as they can but cant even touch the shutter button because they are stretching their arm out so much
