The mortiser is packaged in a fully molded styrofoam container. The cast iron table is huge, thick and perfectly flat. It's very well constructed, heavy (almost 100 lbs! Extremely sturdy and powerful.

It's probably overkill, but it's sweet. I'm still overjoyed with it. The only drawback is the price.

The quality of this and the pm 3520 lathe have sold me on powermatic tools

Easy to deal with and the product works way better than the shop fox i replaced

Its impossible to properly adjust the gib with the gas cylinder attached the cylinder provides far more drag than an over tightened gib

If you are constantly jacking around with the fencehold down system you will end up with square holes that are staggered and uneven

Price

The price is quite a bit more especially considering you dont get any bits with this tool

While the manual describes how the gib is tightened for shipping and how to adjust it this may well leave

The order arrived earlier than promised and the packaging was in excellent condition

It was aligned and ready to roll out of the box

If that second strap had gone everything would have spilled out on the ups distro center floor
