Update november 2008 im still very happy with the powermatic bandsaw

The quality of the whole product ill say is a 9 on a 110 scale

The assembly instructions were easy to follow and the quality fit and finish were first rate

Long after the price is forgotten you will still have an outstanding piece of shop equipment

Bought it on sale so i got a good price

Shipping

Goofoff available in local home centers hardware stores worked well to remove the antirust shipping coating on the tables

Shipping was faster than i expected so theres another plus although i wasnt in a big hurry to recieve the saw

He said that that wasnt included in the shipping charge but i checked afterwards and it was supposed to be included

Packaging/appearance

Once in my basement i began the unpacking process and was amazed at the careful packaging

Once everything was out of the cartons i did some minor sub assembly work after inventorying all of the parts

Competitiveness

On the powermatic the fit finish is way above the competition

Comes on a ballet so be prepared to have help to move since its extermely heavy for one person to move the three boxes it comes in

As mentioned by another reviewer if you rewire the motor to 220v you will need a 220v bulb
