Quality
I have been impressed with the cut quality on lots of boards of varying lengths and hardness
I have been very happy with it and havent had any issues
It screams quality however i have problems with it which is causing me to modify it to fit my needs
This had never happened with the rockwell

I want to say i not trying to rag out on rockwell nor i am saying powermatic is the best brand or the best jointer on the market

I have always found the service at acme to be very good and the shipping department is always very helpful
Packaging/appearance
There is no real assemble the unit is near ready for work right out of the box
I have the powermatic planer it has solid locking internal wheels
Competitiveness
However the powermatic model pj882 has been a great upgrade
Out of the create it cut more or less perfectly with only the necessary outfeed table height adjustment

I agree with the person who noted the short cord i had to use a 240 v extension cord but will eventually just add a longer cord to the machine

I am extremely pleased with the jointer and would not only purchase the same one again but if replacing any of my other wood working machines would seriously look at powermatic

I took my dimensions off powermatics mobile base drawing assuming that their depth was adequate for the curved front but it isnt

My tables came quite good but not perfect

Its not trivial to move the outfeed table a very small amount it seemed to always go too far or not enough with the taps i took
