Pros & Cons
Pros
When drilling into areas around the yard with mostly compacted topsoil and clay conditions, the auger would frequently get caught on rocks and roots. The solution is to dig a an inch or two deeper than your recommended planting depth, and whatever sma... Read More
It's sturdy, it's multifunctional. No deflection or bending. This is the most lightweight and durable augers i have come across.
Cons
Item is not what is advertised. It says it is for planting bulbs (assume soft soil) but it says it can be used in any kind of soil. I see other reviewers who also had the welds fail same way.
Highlights
Quality
A bit of an unusual adaptation for the product but works well for my application
Dug 2 ft into packed clay no problem with the auger
Ill post follow up review after more experience with the auger
We grew centipede grass in flats then bore holes in the lawn with the power planter attached to the drill
Price
Yes the price is more than i wanted to pay but i consider it to be worth it
Shipping
The more you use it the faster and better you will get at the technique
Packaging/appearance
I used it to drill holes in the soil around my trees to fertilize them
Competitiveness
I used an old dewalt 18v xrp drill with a 12 chuck and a set of brand new batteries
Considering the manufacturing cost this or any other sturdy auger shouldnt cost that much
I added a 24 inch extension so i could drill 4 foot deep holes for setting heavyduty duckbill type earth anchors
You can till or cultivate in places too tight to bring in a big 5hp tiller
