It blocks the pins effectively and was pretty cheap

You could butcher your own cords and cut that power line but that is a destructive solution

If youve ever controlled a 3d printer with a raspberry pi or other pocket pc then you probably have learned that traditional usb cables can send enough voltage through the cord to cause issues with the printer even with the jumper that is supposed to prevent that in place

No power was going to the light

No more sending voltage to my 3d printer causing low voltage issues on my piworks great

I didnt want to send power with it to the printer as well

If you use a raspberry pi to control a 3d printer youll likely find that the 3d printer pulls power from the raspberry pi and causes issues either with the pi itself or the 3d printer has random failures since it cant draw the power it needs

You can always take a usb cable and cut one of the power traces thats the cheapest way to solve this issue if you dont mind potentially destroying a cable for other uses
