Pros & Cons
Pros
I've been doodling and swatching with them, the pigment is lovely in each. The smoothness, the colors, the vibrancy. No fading. I love that they keep their sharpness longer.
The colors are vibrant, saturated, and just plain gorgeous. Which is why i ended up buying the prisma color premier portrait set of pencils. These colored pencils are amazing!
Yes the price is steeper than many others, but so worth it. Many are quite good and reasonably priced.
Highly pigmented, cores feel soft but don't break when you sharpen them to a fine point. Easy to sharpen without lots of splintering or breaking. Hold their points well too.
Love the quality, variety, and packaging. These are beautiful pencils. Packaged well. They are gorgeous.
Cons
After all the hype about how much better their quality control is supposed to be, well. Half of the colors look exactly alike. Half have hardly any pigmentation. The worst of all goes to gold color, with copper color comes second.
This upsets me because i do not have the time to exchange it for a new one. Looks to have been re-packaged and re-sold. The tin looks like it had been drop kicked prior to shipping.
Highlights
Quality
Heard so many great things about the quality of these pencils had to check it out
Usually the ratio of lightfast to non is so dismal it makes more sense to buy open stock but these are very affordable for the quality
There is nothing worse when one is doing a commissioned piece of artwork and it gets ruined because a business sold the custome... Read More
If anything it is too bad they are expensive but if you want quality
Price
Yes the price is steeper than many others but so worth it
The price was right so i grabbed them up
The price is a bit of a turnoff but i felt as if i got my monies worth after using the pencils
Shipping
Purchased at a very reasonable price with excellent shipping
Her only complaint is that shes going to go through them so fast and cringes when she has to sharpen one
Packaging/appearance
They lay down very smoothly and evenly with minimal pressure and with several light layers they mix and blend nicely with bold ... Read More
My first impressions of these pencils are that i enjoy how they feel in my hand and how they lay colour onto the paper
Competitiveness
I have a set of caran brand as well and both sets together cover all the bases superbly
I bought these some time ago and these are good better than prismacolor
However all of the pencils in the 36 set have the maximum lightfast rating
102 of the 120 in this line have the maximum lightfast rating

While i did some work i was very happy with using the first set i did some research and spoke with some amazing pencil artists to see what they recommended

Prismacolor has very rich colors but the lead is thicker and softer breaks more and the wax will eventually rise to the surface of your drawings resulting in a duller appearance
