The plug allows you to disconnect the headset without disconnecting the call. It's much more convenient than taking the headset off and then putting it back on.

Cons

It isn't secure and falls off easily. I end up putting a hand over the ear piece which kinda defeats the whole hands free thing. The earpiece isnt clear. Sounds like my callers were talking far away & under water.
