All you really have to do is make sure the camera is turned off and find the appropriate input where the plug should go in

If youre wondering what the locking mode is for you should either use it in bulb mode on your camera or if youre doing anything that takes long exposure shots like fireworks or light trails at night

Had to look at the camera side of the connection to figure out that it was the right connector for my 20d
