Clarke's prose is buttery smooth, a delight to read.

The character of piranesi is so likeable almost to a fault as he is so good in nature. There are moments of surprisingly tense drama and looming threat as the story develops. The novel features a memorable world and fascinating characters.

    The main character was likeable and while he saw things in a way that contrasted with my own and i suspect many other readers this was part of what made the book stick in the memory

    The plot is drip fed to us majestically like a blurry puzzle through the eyes of our unreliable narrator and his journal entries
