Pros & Cons
Pros
that there would be a 90 degree connector included or swivel ability for the spray bar attachment. The water is crystal clear thanks to the multistage physical filtration as well as the uv filter. I wish the outflow setup allowed a 90-degree turn.
The filter is awesome, but the company is top notch amazing. Will be purchasing any future products needed from them.
Priming is easy and the tube quick disconnect is a great feature. Go to youtube, follow the instructions for how to start your cannister filter without priming. Installing the bulb was fairly straightforward.
The uv light is a great extra. The plastic (imo) seems a little flimsy, but not unexpected for the price. The only difference seems to be it is a bit noisier.
Cons
Was noticing blowby of the trays. Turned it on and pushed that primer pump another 60 or 70 times. Turns out the uv light dissolved the top tray. There is no sound or movement at all when plugged in.
The outflow holes in this model are considerably larger than the cascade. I have lake malawi in the other tank, and this tank is tiny tanganyika. This filter has no media for filtration.
Highlights
Quality
I just need to do water change once a week and the water is super clear and quality is always good
With the knowledge i now have regarding best assembly practices and knowing that i would have to buy the media separately
With the cabinet open and my cellphone which has a db measurement tool i measured about 5 db of noise at a distance of less than a foot
So i am familiar with the operation of these filers
Price
Nice and the price is frickin amazing
Its a solid choice with at reasonable price
Packaging/appearance
I had to shift some of the gravel out of the way to make it fit
Still circulates the water but now my fish can use all of the 125g instead of cowering behind plantshard scape
Competitiveness
I put it on my 125g cichlid tank
Ive had the 525gph filter for several months and recently purchased the 266gph for a new 36 gallon bowfront tank
The whole shebang for way less than a fluval
Its to powerful for anything smaller than a 180g tank
