I had a fixture with a couple of florescent bulbs that were starting to go so i used it to test these as i could just wire it back up if these didnt work

Not only do you save a lot of energy but the resulting light never hums doesnt care how cold the room is and doesnt flicker

If you have old fixture which need new ballasts the total cost of ballasts plus replacement fluorescent bulbs is about the same as just ditching the ballast all together

Im guessing they may have a 4000k version that only uses 14w
