Pros & Cons

Pros

My ruger dog loves his new door. It’s a weatherproof as a * door can get. Big dog is a lab mix and little dog is an jack russell mix. Black labrador and hound mix.

If you want to seal that, you get thin self adhesive rubber seals for dirt cheap and they won't hinder the operation of the door. Flaps are heavy and have a magnetic bottom so they close as well as a dog door can.

Cons

The flaps on my new petsmart extreme weather are not perfectly straight. The cover to prevent use is hard to remove though, you have to apply quite alot of force to pry it off. The magnets are pretty weak, and the quality of the flaps is not the same ...  Read More

Once in a while it doesn’t close completely but no problem with the dogs or cats going in and out

After reading reviews i was expecting to be not 100 satisfied

Competitiveness

I replaced an existing large petsafe door with this large extreme weather petsafe door

I got a large for my 60lb and 100lb chocolate lab

That way i can have a completely weather tight dog door and still less than half the cost of an endura flap or hale

Instead of barking my dog would scratch at the door jams and was really scratching them up

The upgraded version with aluminum material appears to be more solidly built than the plastic version but the flaps on our large door version hangs too low and the door flaps stick either in or out depending on if our friend went inside or outside

The magnets could be stronger too because it was windy and it blew the flaps open several times during the evening

I ended up having to add a wood frame around the old opening in order to reduce the size for the new pet door

If not for that it would have been a simple installation

I locked my australian shepherd inside for a few hours
