Pros

Keeps it at a nice temp. It keeps the water thawed. No more freezing water.

It has a little more upkeep than the ones without an on and off switch. It is illuminated so you can see from a distance that it is turned on. I turn it on when the weather is supposed to be below freezing, and back off when it warms up.

Cons

The overheats the water terribly, it's almost like coming out of the water heater. puppy chewed cord.
