With the old fountain you had to unplug it and take it entirely apart to wash it and the pump would get gunked up with cat hair pretty much constantly

I went through so many replacement pumps it was a hassle

Pros easy to clean quiet replacement filters and sponges are easy to buy easy to see when water level is low and will automatically shut off preventing the pump from burning out and when filters need to be replaced which reminds me to clean on a regular basis pump has a mesh screen and a prefilter making it very difficult for it to be blocked or burn out
