This indeed unzips and folds flat. The design with the open meshed sides and the straps and it being collapseable is great. Folds down nicely for storing.

It is a really great size (emmitt weighs about 8 pounds) and he fits in well. It holds a 15 lb cat well and provides safe transport. Btw my cat is 7 years old and weighs about 12 pounds.

I get my cat, i lover it in the carrier and once he realizes that he has been tricked, it's too late! I have it pictured next to a carrier we bought from a different brand for our other cat.

Cons

The shoulder strap breaking has made my trip very inconvenient. There isn't much cushion and it doesn't appear strong. There are cheap plastic rods inside edge but they do nothing.
