The booties open up wide to get your dog's foot in them, and then fasten securely with the attached velcro strap. I have two 60 pound dogs and they both wear the xxl size, so they work fine for big dogs too!

They would be xxl for a pomeranian. The top part where the paw first goes in is super wide, doesn't make any sense.
