The story of a childhood and the story. Of a return” – the tagline sounds enticing and made me pick up the book to read. The book’s physical quality is excellent. Beautiful book, wonderful paperback quality.
It feels slightly unfounded to call this book a masterpiece given that it’s only the second graphic novel i have ever read. One of the greatest graphic novels of all time, giving great emotion and depth through straightforward and simplistic artwork.
It feels like an important story to be told from a time and place that silenced women. It stays very true to the real story. I’m excited to watch the movie for it to compare how the stories are told.
Satrapi attends a demonstration, a history lesson and becomes authoritative. She becomes rebellious yet there she is, sticking up for what’s right. Graphic me moire is the right descriptor for several reasons.
Cons
The text is shallow, thin, banal, and pedestrian. The kindle is a wonderful format for reading - but not for this title.

The book was exciting but the pace of the book was in between a fast and slow read
