Hsm (hyper sonic motor) on the lense lets you take autofocus picture. Slow compared to canon or nikon, but ultra high speed is ultra accuracy. Lowest overall system cost, period.

Craftsmanship of this camera really makes the entry level camera feel like a toy. The sensor on this camera is also great. By the way, amazon's service is just great (except for the tax now they collect)!
