It's a very well made tool were other cheaper alternatives would mar up and deform. It seems like it might fit more securely to a multi-speed cassette where the tool could brace against an adjacent cog.

    A vise grip style tool is not ideal for thin lockrings or track sprockets that are under extreme torque because these tools are meant for more “purchase” when gripping

    Thoughtfullydesigned tool that did not work quite as well as i hoped for removing the lockring and cog from a fixedgear bicycle slipping multiple times from both despite use of the locking mechanism

    To be fair the cog was horribly stuck and eventually required a bench vise to remove so this experience may not reflect typical use
