If you are looking for a pet door in a sliding door that is rarely used by humans i would highly recommend this very well made product but we sadly had to return it due to this issue

When the flap closes it makes a loud noise as the magnets engage plus since the magnets are so strong it takes a bit of effort for the dog to push it open

I waited a few weeks then put the magnets back on one side of the flap and a few days after that replaced the magnets on the other side of the flap and the dog never even noticed the difference

My doors are only 1 thick so i had to do some creative fixes to get it to fit properly

Directions did not mention lessening the magnet strength so dogs initially didnt like it
