I actually had to go on the internet and look at what the old cartridge looked like my new one is plastic and looks different to see how the tool was going to work

You are trying to get the black pop up button to engage one of two holes in the far back of the stuck sleeve about 12 inch from the back of the stuck sleeve

The problem is that there is a second set of 4 smaller holes midway down that the button also wants to pop up on

The button cant fully engage those mid way holes but you get a sense that it is engaged and if you try to work the tools at that point it just pulls out of the sleeve

The old cartridge was stuck in place and the ears of the cartridge broke off while attempting to work it out

At this point i had no choice but to pull the stem out of the cartridge which was also very difficult to remove

I was worried that this tool would not work because the stem came out but the outer cartridge was stuck
