Pros

If you are looking for a fan that does the job without rattling around, this is it. Not whisper quiet per se, but i also used all insulated flexi-duct because that's what was already there.

Product functions as advertised but the installation is not for a beginner. Easy installation.

Good exhaust fan for a full bath. It's the details like an exhaust fan that can make your time in the bathroom more pleasurable.

Cons

New vq5 guts are not interchangeable with the vq3. Code here now requires 5 or 6 ducting. Placed into bathroom space and the unit failed after 10-15 minutes.

Product works much better in a new installation as apposed to retrofit in existing ceiling

I have replaced all of my existing exhaust fans with this product

So i went with the average of all

It was not a perfect fit even with the included brackets so i am glad a had a couple extra 2x4s around the house to frame this unit

Packaging/appearance

Use the remaining provided long screws to secure the fan box to the joist

From below use a drill bit for metal drill 2 holes on the joist side of the fan through the box into the joist

Using a hacksaw blade cut any nail that will impede the lip of the fan from sliding under the joist

Competitiveness

The build quality seems to be a little better than the broan i installed in my other bathroom and is quite acceptable for the price

This unit was replacing an old broan vent fan that originally came with my house and it was not a perfect swap

Cut out the old and enlarged to slightly more than 12x12 installed the bracing patched the drywall
