The only downside was either the macbook itself or this adapter cannot remember the extended display configuration for nothing

Its 5050 whether the arrangement of the two extend displays will remain since your last use requiring you to reconfiguring your rightleft display setup and which display is the main display

I have an lg gram 17 it is a great laptop but there is not much information about support for multiple monitors

In the intel udh graphics control panel select multiple displays and then select your displays after you save the configuration it will extend desktop to all 3 displays
