No valve to close on the mouth piece and would leak passed the mouth piece of pressure was exerted on it in the pack

If you pull on the mouth piece too hard however it comes off fairly easily

The water it held remained tasteless and the bitedown valve was reliable and needed a decent succion pressure to release water so there wasnt accidental spillage of water while not using it
