Even without the leather it does a great job of blocking the chilling wind its just that there is a noticeable albeit slight temperature differential between the front and back of your hand

The more insulation you add the warmer the glove becomes but as a result finger dexterity suffers

I love that the cuffs are narrow and long because i prefer to wear gloves under jackets and not on the jacket outside

The length ensures the wrists stay covered but you do not have to wear over jacket cuffs which look silly when out in public and on social occassions

A little more insulation at back of the hand could be justified with little to no compromise of functionality
